Hi everyone!
Has anyone had an experience where their snake was afraid of mice? I feed my kingsnake live mice because he has no interest at all in frozen/thawed. This sounds terrible, but we knock the mouse out a bit and put him with my king and as soon as the mouse comes back to reality a bit...my king backs up, rattles his tail, slithers away and hides. He appears to be afraid! We've even tried giving him smaller mice.
Any ideas?

I had this problem once with my Pueblan.

At some point, the mouse fought back and bit the snake.

This will throw feeding off for quite some time.

My Pueblan stayed off feed for over a month.

Now I have him switched, I have to warm up the thawed mouse and tease feed off tongs, but he eats like a champ now.

My California King, whom I collected from the wild as an adult, is completely terrified of live mice. It makes me wonder how he survived in the wild up until I found him...

My eastern milk Carmella was covered in bite scars when I found her, got her on F/T immediately.

My first attempt at feeding her, I understood why all those scars are on her, Doofus grabs her mice by the back legs and tries to yank the legs off!

She makes me wonder how she lasted as long as she did.

She is safe and sound now, AND a proud mom
