Grumpy

dewittg Oct 29, 2008 05:42 PM

In December 2004, I posted a pic of this guy asking what he was. He had shown up on my front porch one chilly day a couple weeks before Christmas. The answer was a Texas Rat snake and that's clearly what he is. Thought y'all might like to see what he looks like now. He's currently about 5 1/2 ft long and 1400 grams. Typical Texas Rat personality, but lifted out of his tank on a hook he can be handled.

That's a good-looking snake and appears to be quite healthy.

How did I know a title of "Grumpy" would yield a TX rat? LOL

He was actually calm when I picked him up off my front porch. Of course, that may have been due to the fact that the temp was only in the high 40's. . . And, that was the last time I just reached down barehanded to pick him up.

Reminds me of the big one I saw back in July(?) but that had more black up front. Big like Grumpy, too.
