Yellow Blood x Red Blood

BrianDorry55 Oct 29, 2008 11:57 PM

So when I purchased my female Sumatran Blood...the guy said her parents were fire engine red...well it's starting to look like she's heading down the Yellow Blood road...She really doesnt have much red in her at all, but she's definately a gorgeous girl...Now my male blood is looking like he is going to be on fire, he's getting very red...So what I'm wondering, if I breed a Yellow Blood to a Red Blood...will it have a negative effect on the looks of any of the babies? I've seen alot of Bloods for sale that arent very attractive because they have a ton of different colored scales mixed in, instead of one nice flat color...Is that from breeding a yellow to a red? Well thanks for any help guys, I appreciate it.

Brian,
While breeding two red adults together may increase the chances of producing young that lean toward the red phase, it definitely won't guarantee anything because the color of adult bloods doesn't always breed true. Usually within any given clutch, no matter what the adults look like, you will get hatchlings that range through several of the different color phases and pattern variations of bloods when they mature.
