Locale Rosy Rats

byron.d Oct 30, 2008 01:33 PM

Graham and KJ teamed up to get me these awesome little snakes.
I got the whole clutch - right out of the eggs, and was ready to wreck my liver and do a lot of cursing to get these feeding on rodents.
One took to pinks without hesitation and the other seven started on pinks after two lizard scented feedings.
I have a thing for Rosy Rats - especially locale animals.
These are Boot Key snakes and they are just stunning - even now as hatchlings they have no black on them and two (one pictured here) have cool aberrant patterns. The others vary from almost bloodred looking to lots of gray in the ground color.

Thanks again guys!!!

Wow. That is a really cool snake. I have a thing for Rosy's to, even though I don't have any right now. I am looking for a nice pair.

To be honest, I had forgotten all about that last hold out. Yeah, he turned right after he shed and hasnt stopped eating yet. I think he was the only one that required scenting like three times.

I'll have to get you photos of all of them. Pretty cool how variable the clutch is color wise..

Here's one from Don last year.

Take care.

They look great Byron- wonderful job. I'm about to start brumating my animals in the next week or so... hopefully next year I'll produce more Boot Key Rosies!

I'm going to try and make it down to the Keys next year- hopefully I'll be able to take some great habitat photos.

Your friend,
Graham
