Brazilian Rainbow Litter

Jeff Clark Oct 30, 2008 01:39 PM

My 2004 female laid her litter this morning. There were 3 males, 8 females, 4 slugs and this pair of stillborn twins. The twins were together inside the same membrane in the nesting box. I broke them out of the membrane to make sure they were not alive. The litter was born sometime between 5AM and noon when I found them. The healthy babies had all left the nesting box and were crawling around in the cage.

Too bad on the twins but still sounds like a good litter.

Not so common in Brazilian Rainbow Boas. I had a set last year that one survived and one did not. A set from august this year did great and have already been sold. I also had a set of Argentinian Rainbow Boa twins. I had a Colombian Rainbow born with two heads. It probably started development as a set of twins. It ate several times but only lived 5 weeks. I had twins several times in Jungle Carpet Python eggs and they all did great. A couple times when I was breeding Cornsnakes I had twins die in the egg.
