How often do you handle your snakes?

DarkFaery8 Oct 31, 2008 01:21 PM

Especially your big snakes? I've been really busy with work and school recently so I haven't been able to handle my snakes as much as I would like, but I don't want them to start getting anti-social. So what's a good amount to handle them so I don't run into any problems?

Thanks,
Jessica

I have 8 and they get handled about 3 times a week each between me and my son. Depending on their personality, and if they are breeding or not, it may be more or less.

Usually 2-3 times.

I take them out before feeding, when cage cleaning, when I change their water. I usually have them out for a little bit except for our nasty snake.. who I don't handle much at all, and usually have a towel on his head when I do.

I usually handle them for at least an hour once a week. I try and
handle them a few times a week. NFL sundays & MNF are the perfect time.

Breeding boas and pregnant boas don't really get disturbed though. Last year I would let my amarali female come partially out of her cage and hang out on my shoulder & she ended up never having babies after she ovulated. I have pictures of the actual copulation. Hopefully the male will do his J-O-B right this
year.
