A few more from this past week....

Nathan Wells Oct 31, 2008 01:52 PM

It seems as if every other day a nice clutch of sinaloans and nelson's has hatched. I know it's late in the season but it has been certainly well worth the wait. I have gotten babies from fourteen clutches now and have three more on the way...
Here are just a few quick pictures from this past week.

albino nelson's with het in the background

a nice clutch of hypoerthristic sinaloans

a few very nice looking "pied" splotched sinaloans

Thanks for looking.

Hey Nathan,

Can you describe how you incubate your Milk Snake eggs?

They look so "clean" and I'm wondering what your specific techniques are?

Medium - Coarse Perlite

Water - ???

Container - ???

Vent Holes - ???

Incubation Temp. Ranges - ???

Incubation Container - ???

Maintenance - add water, air out, etc??

Thanks man,
Rusty

Here's a picture of my typical set up:

This year I lost two clutches due to over humidity (I think).

I use vermiculite mixed with some water just to give it a damp feel. I put the eggs on the surface of the vermiculite and do not bury them.

I then put a paper towel over the eggs and mist the towel every day or every other day with water. This keeps the towel damp and keeps the eggs moist from both the bottom and the top.

I also don't have holes in my egg containers and take the top off every day (or every other day) and give it some fresh air.

I had 100% hatch rate this year (42 eggs) and have never lost an egg (knock on wood) when I started doing this towel trick.

It may not be the best way, but it works for me.

Dave
