Not feeding

mattciupak Oct 31, 2008 06:31 PM

Up until today, my BRB from Jeff has been a GREAT feeder. I tried feeding her when she was in shed, i didn't expect her to take it, and she didn't. I just tried now, and she didn't take it. I though it might be too cold, so i threw it in the bag again and put it in 105F water. She didn't seem to take it after i heated it up. i left it in the enclosure over night.
BTW, i feed her f/t rat pinks. I will try again in a few days.
I have my hot side temps at 81.2 right now and ambient at 73.7. the humidity is 83%.
Any suggestions? she ate perfectly before her shed, and she hasn't come out at night since her shed.

Should not be a problem, just wait till next feeding day. They can go weeks, even months w/out food.

This is not uncommon. Like Dave said snakes can go weeks / months without food. Trying to feed to often can also cause snakes not to eat. Thus, give your snake some time and then offer food.

Also, when did she shed vs. trying to offer it food? Sometimes a nsake will not eat even a couple of days after shedding.

Mine eats the same way and will sometimes decide to refuse a meal or two, what helps me is having live rats around to scent the f/t ones. The next time you go to a pet store you can bring a cloth and ask them to rub it on a live rat (you might get some strange looks for it) and then rub that on the thawed mice. Good luck.
