Long Island showgirls.....

JKruse Nov 01, 2008 11:09 PM

uhhhhh, I meant show TABLES! Got your attention though, LOL. But where was everyone today....'twas a real snoozer, but good seeing old friends/acquaintances and meeting some new people.
Yeah, there's not a whole lot on the table but I find beauty in simplicity......and the well-behave table inhabitants for the afternoon were exceptionally well-behaved and spoke for themselves....

Sorry for some of the blur. AND, I got stuck next to THIS nosepicker for the entire day.........LOL....

Have a great weekend all....

Jerry may not have had a ton of animals on his table, but what he did have was nothing short of perfection! And, his daughter has got to be the most well behaved kid i have ever met!

I agree the show was very slow, but any day at a herp show is still a good day!

Which show was this? Is there a show on the Island? Once a year, or regularly? Hey Jerry, if you go to the Richmond show next year I will go to the Island show if I can(and if I have any snakes to left to sell).Binging a laptop to the show too. What were you asking for it?

Howie we need to do this show next year.

These pic's were all taken this weekend at the Long Island Herp Show, held by the same people that do the White Plains Herp Show here in NY.. They always advertise ALL upcoming events here on kingsnake..

You can click on the link below to see a list of events and the vendors that will be at each show.

Where are you guys from? what shows are you doing now?

This wasn't the show I was thinking about. Is the Staton Island show still going?

The Staten Island show has not been held for about 15 years.. Maybe even more than 15 years?

You are too funny there Howie-man. Yeah, Mike is on the money with this. The Long Island show is the second annual for Bruce Lowder, the cat who does the long-running White Plains, NY show. But I do plan on coming down and trying out maybe the NARBC in Va next year. I dunno -- I'm just coming back to these things and really dont want to do more than 3 or 4 shows honestly. BUT, we would love to see that fro behind one of the tables up here in your old alma mater......nyuk nyuk!!!

There is also another LI show that is done by the LIHS. And the Staten Island show is defunct and bombed after a while. I'll be out herpin' tomorrow on Election Day -- I'm also voting for some temps and a fat pine. I'll keep you posted.

Hey Jerry,

I really like the simplicity of your display. Not much on the table, but that brings attention to the few you have on display. You really had much more than what's on the table...at least for show and educating peeps like me. When i was talking you, you kept pulling out different specimens from under the table...lol. It was a pleasure meeting and talking to you.

You got me hooked on the mountain kings now. Thanks, like i need another reptile to get into. I look forward to getting some zonata(s) from you next year...when you have more offspring.

Regards,
Kenny

It was a pleasure meeting you as well. That's the other half of this hobby that I have enjoyed for so long -- meeting some great people along the way and introducing new animals/concepts to them. And you were no exception! Actually, I had not had a table at a show since 2002 as I'd sold off my collection to pursue graduate studies.

Needless to say it's great to be back and I appreciate your interest -- these snakes are really amazing and the fact that they are challenging makes them all the more fun (okay, and a stress at times I have to admit...). But the reward certainly does outweigh the feeding challenges once they are overcome. I look forward to talking again soon, maybe at the WP show? Until then....
