jkruzic Nov 01, 2008 11:20 PM

I was just wondering if anybody had any luck breeding Boelen's pythons this year?

...Pro Exotics is the only company/people that I know have Boelen's in the US. I think they said they weren't ready to breed yet.
I'd also like an answer to this question!

Sincerely,
Matthew

They are not the only people. There are several in private collections.

Yeah, I meant that "I" PERSONALLY know off.. Not that only they. Still, I bet many Boelen's owners DON'T advertise their ownership of said snakes..

There are many Boelen's in the hands of private collectors. Pro Exotics is offering an incredible adult male right now, and Bushmaster had 1.2 hatchlings available recently for $3500 a piece.

I have heard some "stuff", but nothing verified, and nothing I'd feel comfortable repeating at this time. I will say that the advances I've heard about involved private collector(s), who do not frequent internet forums, etc. I do, however, expect some new informaton to surface in the near future.

LOL. That must be new, last time they said they didn't have any for sale.. Still, I couldn't afford one anyway. Would love to see breeding projects set up & some babies come on the market.

Thanks for the replies. I know that there has been at least three successful breeding of Boelen’s in the US. You do see the occasional captive hatched from a gravid wild female for sale, like everybody else I would love to see captive breed. Here is an excellent web site for those you are interested http://boelenspythons.com/.

Coincidentally, someone happens to be offering baby Boelen's on the MVF Forum right now. Just got posted this morning.
