I'm pretty sure I've posted most of these before.

Brindle, rusty albino, normal, and rusty

"hypo" (T albino?)

But I agree! Let's see some more! Even the "common" morphs are appreciated.

Redmoon, I appreciate your posting your pics of the black rat morphs. As with corns I've seen alot of names given to what seems to be an endless variety of patterns for the black rats.
I just picked up a pair of albino rats from a newly met friend on this site. I plan to breed them possibly this spring or next.
From looking at your pictures the female i have looks to be a rusty albino. The male I'm not sure of how to label him. He has faded orange saddles over a much whiter base with much more white to his head. Also I'm curious as to what a rusty and a brindle look like as the pics I've seen include maybe half a dozen and I can't tell which is which.
Mike.

It's hard to say your female is rusty albino just from comparing her to one pic- I've seen a lot of really red albino black rats that weren't rusty. Do you have any pics of yours?

Here's a rusty with a normal-

You can see how she has a "rusty" look to her color, almost purple.

This next pic is of a normal and a brindle. Brindle produces a brown snake with random patches of normal coloration- sometimes they have a lot, sometimes hardly any. Mine hardly have any black at all on them. Males are also much redder than females.

You can see those three snakes in the pics I posted before, too, for a full body shot of them. I'll try to get some more pics of them soon, and when I do, I'll definitely post them.

thanks,
Ronnie Nocera

That's a nice looking rusty...Are you breeding blk rats ?

Gorgeous snake! I'm working on putting up a site, and compiling some pics of different morphs. Would you mind if I used your picture as an example, if I credit you for it?

I am breeding. So far I've mostly been breeding producing hets, so I haven't been selling any. This year I'll probably have some rusties and leucistics, as well as a bunch of hets again, for several different traits. In the next couple years, I'll have every imagineable combination of brindle, rusty, albino (multiple strains), and lemon. It's been a slow process for me- as "popular" as black rats are according to people who used to work with them, it's taken me several years to get some genes to work with.

Are you breeding anything?

Thanks,
Ronnie

Sure you can use the shot

I have some tri hets that I will breed next yr [hopefully]
My collection is very small now...I have a few 2-3 yrs old blk rats

pinelandsghost Nov 08, 2008 12:15 AM

Just for the sake of comparison, maybe as a way of judging my own obsession, but what number would qualify your collection as small?
Mike.

dre Nov 09, 2008 06:05 PM

1.4..... 2-3 yr olds

I do remember the days of having 8-10 breeders and producing 30-40 baby blk rats a yr

Check out the odd ball in this shot ..she was produce in 02

jhnscrg Nov 09, 2008 07:38 PM

This lil girl came from a amelrusty x amelrusty

Ruby eye leucistic blk rat

Redmoon Nov 10, 2008 08:22 PM

I'm hoping for some of those myself, this year! I've got a pair of "sunsets" (amel rusties), but I don't know if the female will be ready to breed or not.

I really like the pic of that rusty brindle, too. I can't wait to produce some of those myself!

Posting pics of mine...ouch, well I kind of knew that question was comming. truth is that though I'm willing, my skills in getting pictures posted arn't very good so please bear with me and I'll enlist the help of my resident computor pro (my daughter) and I'll try to get them up by this weekend. I'd really like to show you whar I have and to find out what the morphs are.
Mike.
