good gosh almighty, that is a giant! I have seen a handful over four feet and a couple approaching five, but no solid five footers.

Kerby, I would love to see a pic of that one, heck I would love to come up hill and see it in real life.

Is it a northern or southern pyro? The reason I asked is. Many decades ago, I worked at Hermosa Reptile. They had a supplier in the flagstaff area that would ship them pyros that were consistantly over four feet. I always wondered were that population was. Cheers

I got him from Lloyd Lemke in 1997 at the IRBA show in San Diego as a baby. So I've had him for 11 years now. He was non-locale specific and was captive bred.

Here is a picture from 2 years ago when he was 54 inches long and THICK. I need to take a new picture.

Dear Kirby, I really would be thrilled to see a new photo, that is a very impressive animal. I hope you keep its genetics going. FR, do you remember the Giant Eastern King at Hermosa many long years ago? I remember it being huge, I won't say how long, as I will surely be questioned and I have no photo. Vic H.

Yes, I clearly remember that eastern king, I believe it was near 7 feet. What is odd is, no one ever took it out of its cage, not while I worked there. It was huge. If you remember, they also had a giant formosan rat snake. At the time asian rats were not commonly kept alive in the states. I have not seen another that size since.

They also had a zonata on the plus side of 4 1/2 feet. Of course that albino softshell was new to the world at the time.

On the otherhand, I on occasion took care of Rays private collection(when he was gone) and all those were tiny(did not feed them much)

Do you remember Chuck Mcclung(sp) he managed the place when I worked there. He now makes his living as an artist.

I met several life long friends, Ted Davis(deceased) was one of my mexico field partners and very good friend. Rick Raeber, who then opened Mother Natures(reptile shop) a few miles to the south. I saw him in Sept at our local reptile show. He lives here in Tucson now. Darryl Stackhouse, a young friend of Ricks, he lives north of phoenix and is doing rockwork. I hired and taught both Ted and Darryl the beginings of that business. Both went on to have their own companies.

And of course Theres Giant Larry valentine, all who go to ISH meetings have SEEN him(you cannot miss him). I met him went we were teenagers and have been friends ever since. We have herped all over and often at times. He has moved to Brazil. But continues to go to meetings. In 2010, those meetings will be here in Tucson. I may have to attend, hahahahahahahahahaha. Cheers
