OT: Vacation 08 (d/u warning)

Jonathan_Brady Nov 02, 2008 06:51 PM

My family takes a yearly vacation, about 20 of us at the beach in NC. My girlfriend usually goes CRAZY with pictures no matter what we're doing. This year, I was in charge of what to do so we ended up going to several reptile places, and getting LOTS of reptile pics
Alligator Adventure at Barefoot Landing in Myrtle Beach was pretty cool. Here are some photos from that day...
This is a mold of a skull of an enormous prehistoric croc.

Some albino gators

Feeding time!

There are just TONS of them!

This is Utan. Apparently he's the largest croc to ever be on exhibit in the US. He is 20ft long and FAT. Boy needs to be on a diet!

This is Bob. Apparently Bob had his tail bitten off in captivity as a youngster.

A cookaburra, I think?

I can't remember what kind of cat this was, but the adult version was relatively tall and lean. Beautiful!

After visiting there, we walked around the rest of Barefoot Landing and they had an exhibit with these tigers.

We also went to the Cape Fear Serpentarium in Wilmington, NC. Really nice setup! And HUGE adult animals. They don't miss a meal. My only complaint was that the glass could have been cleaner. But I understand why it's not sparkling like it just came out of the dishwasher!
He had a GORGEOUS Colombian adult that had amazing color for such a large animal. My guess was that it was about 9ft long or so. I couldn't get a decent picture of it though
Here are a few that I did get pics of. Oh, and sorry for the quality of the pics, I was shooting through glass (for obvious reasons) in a low light area.
Copperhead

Gaboon Viper

Green mamba

King Cobra

Spitting Cobra - I wasn't using flash much in there, but I had to on this one to illuminate the venom splashed on the glass!

Eyelash vipers, if I remember correctly

My girlfriend was VERY tolerant of me (usually is, thankfully). But I think it's because I participate in things like this

see... :/

That was from her 25th birthday. 80's rock theme party (her last name is Rock - so it's a must-do).

She's the one that puts up with my passion for things like this!

Threw that in there to be on topic!

So we have a give and take relationship I guess you could say. I think she's getting the short end of the stick!!

Thanks for looking,
jb

From the little I know about you and her....you need to put a ring on her finger. I know what doesn't work...and that is not what y'all have.

take care,

Kevin

Thanks Kev,
My family shares the same sentiment. They're about ready to disown me in favor of her if I don't get on with it!

Hey Lar,
Actually, reptiles weren't the point of interest for the vacation, it just sorta happened that way.
We had hoped to make it up to NC while it was still warm enough to hit the water parks, and hang out outside a lot, but unfortunately we missed it by a few weeks. We went in late Sept.

Thanks!!
