Delayed Shedding?

IanFrisch Nov 03, 2008 12:49 PM

My burm has been ready to shed for almost a week now, but she's just been hanging out under her heat panel. Anyone experience similar behavior? Once she's ready to shed, she usually goes for it pretty quickly--usually over the period of one night.

Thoughts?

Also, I haven't fed her because I know she is going to shed. Should I feed her, or wait until she sheds first?

Every now & then one will have an extended pre-shed cycle. Double-check the humidity level & temps. Low humidity appears to be a factor sometimes.

If it will eat while in pre-shed, feed it. Some will eat, some won't. There's no reason to avoid feeding during that time. Most people usually wait till after they shed to avoid wasting prey if the snake doesn't eat.

Later!
