Waterfall in terrarium?

trevoro Sep 07, 2003 08:19 PM

I'm looking to buy a used aquarium/terrarium for my beardie. It comes with all the supplies the previous owner had for his reptile(not sure what kind), including a waterfall. My question is if it's ok to use this with my beardie or will it create too much humidity?

I wouldn't use it, I wanted to put one in mine just because it would look really neat, but you have a chance of it drawing to much humidity,,,

To be honest, the humidity's not the big problem...

The problem is that they'll crap in it, it'll get clogged up every couple of days, and you'll spend most of your time trying to clean it.

We bought a couple of them for a large enclosure for our water dragon... cost a fortune too, heh. We ended up taking them both out, now they're just decorating a coupla shelves.

If it's a little waterfall, and your tank is big enough (and compleatly uncovered (ie screen top/no top)), it should be fine. Any humidity created, I'd think, would be pulled/evaporate out the top as soon as it got anywhere near the basking spot. But if your beardie is active, you'll be cleaning all the substrate out of it, since they'll most likely climb in it, and probably start using it as a toilet.
