Any Columbia show report?

Upscale Nov 03, 2008 05:24 PM

We don’t have hot shows in Florida. Anybody have any pictures or a report from the weekend show in Columbia?

I was there on saturday. Turn out in my opinion was heavy. Also prices were some of the lowest I've seen in a few years. In my opinion it was a buyers market, and I took advantage of it.

It was a great show and the producers (Cathy and Danny)are to be commended for their hard work. There was a great turn out but as usual there were more lookers than buyers (maybe a good thing). Most vendors had good looking animals displayed and there was a conscious effort to make sure animals that were stressed or injured were not displayed. I thought the selection of venomous was good at good prices. I love seeing Matt Crew pair of Crotalus polystictus!

Hope you make the next one!

there are some local guys that collect SC local snakes, do not feed them and drag them to the show and sell them for nothing, so they kill the market on what i normally breed/sell, so i rarely bring a large selection of my focus group. i did bring a few animals for a friend that were not locals, and i think we sold out and a fair price. did quite a bit of trading and brought back a few keepers. added an adult breeding pair of hyde county red pygmies, a large adult male hyde county cottonmouth, a sub adult yellow phase timber from KY, an adult female yellow phase timber original NC stock, and several CB 08 baby timbers from Bell County, KY. one i am going to raise up, will be offering the others for sale soon.
