Brock and I went to look for C. vestigium a few days ago. We saw several but they were very warry and wouldn't let us get close for pictures and video. So we grabbed this male and took his picture before turning him loose.

Nice set of little choppers there too ! Boy what an awesome site it must be to see them, in the wild, doing there own thing ! Being grabbed by you and Brock, LOL hahahah no very handsome lizard, enjoyed him ! Thanks Eve
Nice close-up, Why turn him loose?, not many people have C.vestigium. -Jim
It may have been within the boundaries af a protected area. Believe me, if I was allowed to keep lizards that I catch in the Whichitas, I would have more Collareds than anyone here. LOL

I believe, being a California resident, you are only allowed to have a couple in captivity. Will and Brock are able to enjoy them so much, and it's also a great excuse to keep making trips out to the desert...two very good reasons to let them go
John
Those are some luckless lizards! LOL Thats a nasty rule, though, what about captive bred?

It sucks too, because there are a lot of people that would like to give them a try. Just ask Brock, Will, and Eve...not easy to breed in captivity.
John

California residents are not permitted to sell just about any reptile species native to the state, including C. vestigium. As Johne mentioned, residents are allowed to keep up to two C. vestigium, with proper permit. Unfortunately, CA law makes no distinction (at least in this case) between captive bred and wild caught animals...
