Maybe some of you folks could help me with this problem that was posed to me by a local sulcata owner.
Apparently, they had their 3 year old sulcata either stolen/or escaped (the details I was provided with were from a phone call, so not very clear).
They got it back, but whoever had it painted the carapace silver. They asked me how to remove this paint.
I recall hearing about this type of behavior from my youth (a hundred or so years ago) where people would sometimes paint murals on tortoises or box turtles. Or it may have been cave painting.
Anyway my advice to them was aside from water and a semi coarse nylon type brushing every few days, I wouldn’t recommend using anything harsh to clean the animals carapace, being that it was already compromised with the paint and any additional poisoning may result in the death of the tortoise.
That was about as intelligent as I could sound without asking them for a couple bucks or a beer, anybody else got some advice?
Appreciate cha’
Ciao’
Giovanni
