I had my yearling candycane corn out the other day and as I was unwrapping her from my hand I heard 2 sharp cracks. She shed about 5 days later, though I'm wondering if perhaps I cracked or broke one of her ribs. Any thoughts?

I would have no way to know of course. I would think it would be hard to crack a rib. Over the years I've seen snakes fall, stuck in numberous items, and I cant think of any occasion of one cracking a rib. All that said, I've had serveral crack. To me it sounds like vertebre popping. Having a bad back I know that sound. I just wonder is the snake enjoys it as much as I do? But that sound I hear has near lead to any negative effects. But no idea if that is what you hear.
Good luck

I've heard this while holding the snake and pulling my hand down it. I do that to check for ticks, kinks, and any little bumps. Ya don't pull hard, but I get those cracking noises only if the snake is really relaxed.

Mmk, I figured it really wasn't all that serious when after a few days she didn't show any adverse effects. Thanks
My wild guess is shes fine. But reptiles don't like to show ill effects. They look fine then poof. NOT to say that is yours. But they use all their energy to look healthy so they don't look weak as then they would show that to other animals.
For teh life of me I can't remember what it is called. But i use to raise Jackson chameleons. Or I tried. Babies are very tough to raise. I've seen babies looking great. Walking around, maybe eating, reacting great to other movements, do the mimic for leave shake, ten 15 minutes later they are dead. I stopped trying as i could not take teh high mortality rate of babies. I learned a lot in 2 short years, and have ideas on improving mortaily and maybe I'll try again one day? they are my favorate herp.
Newly born 15-60 seconds out of the mom.

Day 2 after eating maybe 30-40 pinhead crixs

"Trouble" an amazing male jax. He was named "trouble" by my wife as he was so rough with female in mating he killed several.

Last pic is trouble mating with a female. Note teh color of the female. Learning all the color and patterns mean moods with chameleons. If I woke up trouble at night to show a friend, he turned solid black. DARN I want some Jacksons again now lol

Trouble looks awesome!
And as I said this happened about 2 weeks ago so I figured that I would have seen something by now, she's shedding and eating normally so I think she's fine. But it really startled me at first.
The only Herps I've ever had personally are snakes, though my girlfriend has a Bearded Dragon.
Some snakes make 'popping' noises when they just start shedding, I heard it described as the skin around their nose actually breaking loose.
It kinda has the same sound as a person with a crooked jaw cracking their jaw, but on a much smaller scale.
