the name Lesser/Pewter

Wallbanger26 Nov 06, 2008 10:17 AM

Doesn't this name seem to imply that the snake is a Lesser/pastel/cinny? A lesser x cinny should have it's own name, not be called a lesser pewter? It is a lesser cinny.

We call a bumblebee a bumblebee, a cinnabee, a wannabee, a lesserbee, all different names. A lesserbumblebee would be a lesser/pastel/spider (isn't that the queenbee? I forget all the bees).

I just think it can get confusing. Everything isn't a pewter.

Lesser x black pastel = black platinum. Not sure about the cinnamon, but I would think it should be similar. I think we are getting to the point where things should just be called what they are rather than coming up with creative catchy names for everything. When a lesser cinnamon clown fire ghost axanthic yellow belly is eventually produced, that is exactly what it should be called.

I'd call it the JACKPOT ball, because seriously...you're more likely to win the lotto than to hit those odds.

I think all these people with too much time on their hands sitting back creating stupid names that in no way explain the genetics of the animals needs to stop. Enough with the stupid names people! Call it what it is. Lesser pewter, axanthic pied, albino pied.....

The name thing can often lead to a heated/interesting discussion. I am not sure there is a "correct" position on the matter. If we were to use ONLY base morphs there would be no Lesser Pewter -- but rather a Lesser Cinnamon Pastel.

I hatched 2 new 2-gene animals this season. I gave one a new name (unrelated to the base morphs) and used the base morphs for the other. 5 or more genes is going to be a hassle either way -- a hassle I am looking forward to dealing with!!!!!

What is a Lesser Pewter? Is it a Lesser x Cinnamon or is it a Lesser x Pastel x Cinnamon????????

I would think its the second option, but in the original post that brought me to ask the question, I believe it was meant as a lesser x cinnamon.

a Pewter is a visible Cinny Pastel and a Pastel, so to produce a lesser pewter you would have to breed a lesser pastel to a cinny pastel other wise you would have a lesser cinny or a lesser pasted cinny from the crosses you listed.
