Wiring heat tape

stormwulf133 Nov 06, 2008 02:51 PM

I have my entire corn snake rack wired onto a dimmer, it works fine, temps are pretty much perfect. The problem is, I am sick of the 20 gallon long tank my sand boa is in. I would like to move her to a tub though she needs much higher temps. I have a spare piece of tape, I was wondering if I could wire it directly to a power cord instead of to a dimmer and just plug it in to a lamp dimmer that I have? Or does the tape have to be hard wired into a dimmer?

You can wire heat tape directly into a power cord, and just pulg it into a dimmer or a thermostat. This is how I use all my Flexwatt heat tape.
