private hobbiest and professional herpetologist could exchange information and hopefully better understand the challenges that each group faces (and really the challenges that BOTH groups face) yet it had turned into one man's podium to attack academia and further divide a community that hasn't ever seen consensus. I'm sure this post will be pulled as well but I implore anyone who has a well rounded stake in this hobby (that would include hobbiest rights along with the rights of animals to live and thrive in the healthiest populations possible) to look outside of their peer groups to better understand the problems that face us.

Academics are no more your enemy than those misguided souls who cannot seek a middle ground to find an equitable solution to the problems that we face.
