New hatchling unicolor's

robnimmo Nov 10, 2008 01:59 PM

I'm not one who posts much but I wanted to give some credit to Alan Brutosky(AlanB). I purchased some of Alan's Unicolor cribos from a third party. Well there were some issues with the transaction and although I had no contact with Alan nor was he any part of the original transaction he took it upon himself to solve the problem.

Alan provided me with some beautiful, healthy hatchlings. He called and e-mailed me frequently to followup. They are fantastic and eager feeders. I will definitely maintain contact with Alan.

After many years without I've decided to cut my collection down to make space for Drymarchon.

Here are a couple of pics. I'm not much a photographer and they don't sit still.

unicolors are usually born w/ smokey tails that fade to gold as the animal gets larger. that particular animal does seem to have a darker tail than most but you can already see the breaks in it. you won't recognize that snake as the same one pictured in a few years. both of these 03 snakes hatched out much the same way.

here's another pic of baby unicolors that hatched here in 03. the adult female [foreground] pictured above is from this group. she's now a bit over 7' & extremely gentle but as is common w/ this genus, has a cyclonic feeding response!

Awesome! Will you be producing any in 09?

hopefully bob, they've been together since late august & i have heard some rattling around but we went thru this last winter too w/ no success. she did lay a small clutch [her first] in 07 but they went bad about mid term. the yt's seem more lovey dovey at this point w/ their hide a rockin' quite a bit.

Cool!!!
All my YTs are in shed now. Never had them all in the blue at the same time before. When they shed I'll throw them together and see what happens. Good luck with your breedings. I'll be looking to buy a couple of your babies!
