O/T - Sad Day

waspinator421 Nov 11, 2008 05:04 PM

Well I came home not too long ago and went to check to see if my snakes had eaten. I get to one of my new Ringed Python's bins and find the female, Grackle, dead. I have absolutely no idea why she up and died. She was eating well, growing, pooping, biting... wtf!!?? I waited over a year to get that pair, and loved them so much.

RIP Grackle

That is the big problem with having so many animals, some just up and die for no apparent reason. The more you have, the more likely you are to run into that unexplained loss.

Agian, sorry to hear that!!

It is always hard to lose an animal, especially when it is unexpected. Are you going to get a necropsy done?

The loss of a pet is always sad but it is doubly so when it is one you both had so much anticipation for and when it is unexplained. i'd have a necropsy done just to put my mind at ease over what the cause was.

Sincerely,
Sean.

Aubrey,
...Do not beat yourself up over this sometimes stuff just happens. I think snakes do just up and die for no apparent reason sometimes. They must have occurences of blood clots and aneurisms just like happens to we humans.

Thank you all for your nice words, I really appreciate your kindness. I won't be getting a necropsy done, as she was so tiny that I doubt they would find anything. If she had a little size on her and died out of nowhere, then definetely I would.

Hopefully Tom Keogan will have more females next year so I can get little Tanager a new girlfriend.
