entice finishing shedding?

jamesk Nov 12, 2008 09:32 AM

My 15' burm has never been the greatest shedder. I installed a PVC rain system a few years ago. It works great but she still sheds in multiple pieces. Anyway, my situation is that she started to shed a few days ago. Only spots on her back here and there have been removed and she doesn't seem concerned about removing the rest. This is the first time this has happened. She always has had shedding on her first agenda. This time she just sits around not concerned about getting the old skin off. I'm asking if anybody has any ideas on how to entice her to finish shedding. I'm having a bunch of people over this weekend and want to have her shedding/cage cleaned up for her usually popular appearance. When she was little I would just put her in a little tub of water and that did the trick. At her size now that's not possible. I set my rain system to spray frequently but she just avoids the water.

any help is greatly appreciated

you can always put her in the bathtub.

You put a rain system in the burms cage? Is there standing water in there? Is it constantly damp? Do you think maybe she avoids the "rain" cuz she doesn't want to be wet all the time? I'm not sure, but it sounds like you're just asking for an RI or belly rot.

I just re-read your original post, and it says the rain system has been in there for a few years. So I can assume that it's not doing any damage, but is it really doing a lot of good? I'd just try and keep the humidity in an appropriate range without the use of a mist system.
