ONCE AGAIN, WHAT IS BAN STATUS???

calirepguy Nov 12, 2008 05:41 PM

Does anyone know what the status of this potential boa/python trade/import ban is? If it such a hot topic then why is nobody responding to my query?

Because thier is no "Ban". It was an inquiry, and as far as I know, nobody has come to any real conclusion yet.

You might want to consider signing up at usark.org -- they will keep you up to date and informed on all things regarding reptiles and laws and stuff.

Not saying anything bad about PIJAC but wouldn't it be better to be involved with an organization that is about reptile specific laws and regulations than one that caters to mainstream pets, pet retailers and manufactures of pet products?

I mean sure PIJAC being the unified voice of the pet industry is a valuable resource but why not a unified voice of the reptile industry.

And how many members does it have? And how many scientists are paid for their advice by this group? And what Washington connections does this group have? And what have they defeated for us so far? I have pen in hand and am awaiting your response to write my check........

Just bustin yer butt.....when better options present themselves we will be behind them fully. US ARK is in the baby stages now and we are helping to get that off the ground......

If you dont know what PIJAC has done for our industry please find someone who was at the PIJAC/USARK/Industry meeting held in Chicago in February. Many people were amazed by what they learned about PIJAC.....Ralph Davis, Pete Kahl, The Snake Keeeper, ECO, Chicago Reptile House, Bill Brant, Eugenne Bassette, Wayne Hill, Don Schultz, John Mack, Jeff Barringer, Amir, Jeff Ronne......

Like I said -- my post was not a negative towards PIJAC -- but isn't it about time we had our own voice. Every time we see a new legislation or regulation come up we all whine about banning together as an industry -- but then we go hide behind the coat tails of the dog and cat industry. And I'm not saying choose one or the other but in order to get USARK off the ground as our voice -- it needs to be supported as much as PIJAC.
