Gray banded kingsnake, WEAK

briangg Nov 13, 2008 07:11 AM

I have a beautiful gray band female. She was the picture of health, eating every 8 or 9 days. Then she just stopped 2 weeks ago. I wouldn't worry except I picked her up and she is so weak. If I dropped her head or tail, it would fall like a rope. She would pull her herself up with effort. Her tongue still flicks rapidly. I called my vet and he said she my be trying to hibernate. When she is in the cage, she does look normal and moves around a little. Her weight is normal. The Vet said, if I want, I can bring her in on Sat. and he could do some blood work. I think I will. What do you guys think? The temp in the cage is close to 90 degrees on the hot side and 72 degrees on the cool side. She is hanging out on the cool side of the cage.

Well guys, she died, I'm going to ask my vet how much it would cost for an autopsy.

I"m sorry to hear. Lethargy, but not weakness is associated with brumation. Please let us know what a necropsy reveals.
