Sadly.....

medyssa Nov 13, 2008 02:13 PM

Dude, my male that produced my four babies from this year died on Monday. I dont know why, I'm just sad. Now I have an empty cage. I hate that. Its such an obvious void to fill.

Here's a pic of him when I first got him, he looked horrible when I got him and his sister, both had resp. infections and eye caps and nose rubs. Dudette is still doing well, getting fat for breeding this year.

So sorry to hear that Jess, sucks when we lose them.

Looks like Sango will have to pick up the slack for a while.

Wow, It must be unexplained snake death month or something. First Aubrey's python, now your BRB. So sorry for both of your losses. It was hard enough for me when I had an explanation of why my gecko died a couple of years ago; I can't imagine what it's like not even knowing what caused it. Almost makes me glad I don't have a snake yet - I'd be getting paranoid and worried right about now.

No, I think that between me and Aubrey, its just a fluke. I think its more sad just getting used to the unexpected deaths of snakes. I have some stories to tell about that!
My worst day was when I came home from sitting in 2-hour traffic to find Dudette, my 6 foot long BRB starting to swallow my pet bird, my first and so far only baby BRB from Dave dead for no apparent reason, and my female who produced Zoey and Ziggy dead from complications due to retained slugs.
THAT was bad, this is just sad.

Recommendation....dont keep multiple levels of the food chain in one room.

Ouch, that's even rougher. Clearly you're due for some better luck in the future - it certainly sounds like you've endured enough of the bad.

I dont know exactly how old he was, I got him from a rescue guy off of craigslist that just had too many mouths to feed, had just gotten Dude and his sister and they were in bad condition so I fixed em up. He could have been very old, I just wouldnt know.
Thankfully Dudette is still around and kickin
