Pin Worms

ryan_m Nov 14, 2008 11:56 AM

Hello. I just had a fecal done on my male bearded dragon at a herp vet in my area. They told me that they found a single pin worm egg in his stool. They then said that it wasn't a concern because they only found a single egg, therefore they do not have to treat for them. Does this sound right? Thanks.

Sounds good to me - i wouldnt deworm if i saw just one. I would, however, recheck a fecal in a month or so to make sure that the levels are not increasing.

I will do that. Thanks.

I also suggest being diligent on cleaning after every poop etc. to avoid recontaminating your dragon. If he isn't housed alone I suggest housing him alone and get the other dragon (s) fecals done.

Hey PHLdyPayne. He is housed alone. Have already changed his substrate. I check his tank regularly throughout the day and take care of any feces immediatly. Thanks alot.
