Pro-venta mite...

whomikebrown Nov 14, 2008 01:12 PM

im posting this question with the understanding that i will probly be laughed at but what ever...i really care bout my animals...i had mites a long time ago so i now use pro-ventamite as a pre-caution after everycleaning on my newspaper for my rack...ive also just now began to feed my animals in there rack instead of pulling using seperate totes like ive done for years...even if dry...if the rat touchs the pro-ventamite and the snake eats the rat are there any side-effects known? im worried about my snakes becoming sterile lol...any one breed snakes and use proventamite in similar circumstances?....sorry guys for the dumb question i just have a lot of $$ invested...

I also treat every cage I clean to prevent any possible mite break outs. I feed f/t wet rats in the tubs also and have not noticed any problems whatsoever. They breed just fine.

BTW, switch from provent-a-mite to Equate bedding spray (Lice treatment at walmart). Same product but about $3.50/can. I've been using it for the past 3 years or so and it works great.

...and I have had no problems with it. Dry Provent-A-Mite is completely harmless. Not dry, or wet Provent-A-Mite is what you have to worry about. Make sure its completely dry and aired put before you put your snakes/feeder rodents in the tubs and you should be fine.

And I always recommend the tubs to dry in open air, rather than shut in the racks, that way the fumes can escape.

Good luck!
