Picking a co-dom...

Severa Nov 14, 2008 04:50 PM

I have been thinking about starting a breeding project with my female red tail. Being that she is the only one that I own, I would like to pick up a co-dom male but i am not formiliar with the morphs. Can someone recommend some really nice morphs? I am not asking for someone to name all of them, perhaps just your top favorites. Also, is there a book out there with all the morphs in it? One that breaks down the traits and identifies co-dom from simple recessive?

Thanks all,
Severa

The only real Co-dominants that I can think of are the Motleys, Jungles, Aztecs, and Marrons.
You can also breed Dominants/Incomplete Dominants to normals and produce visual mutations as well such as Hypos, Arabesques, and others.
Or you can go the path of line breeding (polygenetics). Theirs a few lines that throw cool patterns, or high colors, or both.
You've got to look around and see what's pleasing to your eyes, and go for that.

"Designer Morphs" as it should answer many of your questions.
