Sterilite & UTH

everywomanshero Nov 14, 2008 09:08 PM

I have a small UTH (fluker mini). I am wondering if it is safe to use this with a sterilite container for a small snake as a starter cage?

Safe is a relative term.

Ideally you should use some sort of temperature control rheostat or thermostat. I used 3" flexwatt with Rubbermaid sweater boxes stacked in my Dorm closet for a few months years ago. The flexwatt was taped to the bottom of the tub and was a pain to keep in place but it made due till I got money together for better caging.

Cheers

I am currently heating 3 32qt tubs with a foot of 11" flexwatt, but not fully covering the bottom. It's safe, but you need a Temp Control Unit (thermostat) like Johnson Controls, Ranco, Helix, etc, and it has to be set a degree or 2 below what you want it.
