Tiger litter...

Ghireptiles Nov 14, 2008 10:37 PM

Had a litter of tigers tonight and overall they look like they are on the weak side. The female went 148 days POS so I thought it was not going to turn out well...and I was right. There are 4 normals and 6 tigers. Stillborns consisted of 1 tiger and 6 normals. I'll get a few pics up once they settle in...

Hopefully there will actually be some that I can take pics of. They look better this morning but no strong litter for sure.

I am so glad I have 8 breeder cages coming that the females will be living in permanently. Taj Mah Enclosures!

What kind did you decide to go with?

I'm having animal plastics make them. They will basically be like the Nicoli acrylic enclosures with some modifications. The pull out drawer was a must along with urine guards so that took just a bit longer.

Kingsnake MODS -

What happened to a few of the posts that had to do with Tiger pricing? They were removed? When I posted that the babies would be going for $1500.00 and up that wasn't an advertisement...I have a kingsnake account. It was a discussion...which belongs on a forum.

HAHA... a while back someone asked why a vendor at a show labelled an ATB as "demon tree boa"...I took a guess, saying maybe because they're meaner than the devil. Someone else said maybe because they have red eyes... My post got removed, the red eyes post stayed... hmm....forum = sharing of opinions and viewpoints, no?

Here are a couple of the tiger babies...

Here's a paradox tiger...

Some have little cords that need to fall off and hopefully they will do well.

Matt,
Sorry to here about the litter not being very strong and having some still born. Hopefully the rest will pull through. Any Calico pairings this year, or Red Hots? Or are you still focusing most of your efforts to Tigers. Don't get me wrong I think Tigers are magnificent, and I am sure one day I will want to add tigers to the collection. But Blood Red ATB's are my favorite Which includes patternless or calico type but dark red always being the base color. There are exceptions like your 2006 litter of candycanes, but they almost don't count because they are in a league of their own. Hopefully one day I will be privileged enough to add some of that blood to my collection. Thanks for sharing your ATB escapades with us, I always look forward to your posts, as I a always blown away at your animals
Take care,

Here is a pair I have going right now, Red and white male and Red calico female

Hey Charles...great pairing and best of luck!

I will be pairing an insane looking couple of calico red hots this season! They were the red and white banded babies I had in '06. All 5 of the animals that were sired in three different litters by the same male turned into calico animals. Hopefully by breeding animals together from the same sire and different dams...I can reproduce the calico animals.

I will also be pairing yellows and tigers...again lol. The candycanes will have to wait until next season as they are just missing my size cut off point. I have a couple of other red females but they are also borderline and I would rather wait.

Thanks for the interest!

Thanks Matt,
I am pretty excited about the pairing, the Red and White male is one of my favorite snakes. I plan on pairing him up with another favorite of mine this year, a beautiful patternless Red female.

Oh man, I hope your calicos make lots of babies. Those are some of the best and craziest looking amazons ever!! I'll be keeping a close watch, they're not even my snakes and I am getting excited just to see what they produce.

I wish you the best of luck on having a great breeding season!!

Take Care
