poteluz Sep 08, 2003 07:19 AM

i went to the whiteplains ny reptile expo, and reptile kingdom had a whole mess of babies and when i mean babies i mean like 2 weeks old babies, they had like 15 saharan 2 weeks old babies and like 15 malis like 2 weeks old babies, they all looked very healthy and cute as hell, he said they were captive bred but i don't really trust it, they were very little though, do they import malis that little?

I saw them too. There are a few people who have bred Saharans. But only a few from what I understand. Malis I know are captive bred Now regularly now. But (Correct me if I'm wrong) Saharans are a little harder to breed. Hopefully I'll be able to say that I'm successfully Breeding them next Year. But It's really hard from what I'm told....

I have four babies from this year's clutches. That's out of two females laying about 8-12 eggs each. The first (yellow) female punctured most of hers with her nails. The second (red) female didn't but I didn't learn all I needed to know for proper incubation of the eggs until most had died off. They are not easy to incubate and I'm not sure how many people have tried so far. But some people are. I was told by Doug Dix not to ship them before their first shed at about six weeks. I would not think it a great idea to sell them at two weeks but people will do anything, so I think it's likely that the ones you saw were captive bred. They wouldn't import ones that young as they probably wouldn't live. -Lucy

I have read [bleep] and actually had previously cheked out reptilekindom and found nothing but good comments.
Also a friend of mine who was vendering at the show told me that he knew the owner and he was an honest person
So I bought the saharan.
I must say though I just called reptilekingdom and they wouldnt tell me who the breeder was, which I am a little bothered about.

u see i just called him a couple of hours earlier and he didn't tell me either, hows yours doing , they did look super healthy, is it eating , keep me informed, thanks

I havent seen him in the act of eating, but it looks like there are less greens than yesterday also some greens are scattereed across the cage, so I think hes eaten.

Hes the cutest thing though, I wish I had a digital camera, hes so cute!!
I put a flat rock for him to bask and hes so small compared to it, its adorable.
