It looks to me to cast a wide blanket that could potentially deal our industry a serious blow. Unless I'm mistaken and please correct me if I misread. It looks as if any species placed on the banned for importation into the US list would make it immediately illegal to buy, sell or breed. This blanket could cover alot of area here.

I could not figure out whether or not the law would be retroactive. That being, all of my ball pythons are descended from wild caught animals, but they are all imported so long ago, at this point I am not sure if their wording really applies to snakes that are a few generations away from their imported ancestor.
The way it was worded also seemed as though it would only apply to snakes collected after the law is enacted, or descended from snakes collected after the law is enacted.

It is definitely a ridiculous thing to do, especially in places like Oregon, where there is no chance of any of those tropical snakes becoming invasive.

Is this the same Non-native Wildlife Invasion Prevention Act? Has it taken the next step or is this something new and unrelated?

I guess it doesn't say what the banned species would be. This would be decided after the bill is passed?

I would urge anyone who has not already done so to join USARK (United States Association of Reptile Keepers) of whom Ralph Davis is a director. I don't know if we can post links on this forum so google USARK.
