Any idea what these are???

thomas_matthew Nov 17, 2008 04:27 PM

Ok guys i aquired 3.1 of these to breed once they get a bit older. They are SUPER dark in person, so i will say what many others do, these look much nicer in person, but... i had been told that similar animals had been used before (not saying these are the same) to produce what was termed as a voodoo ball by Michael Cole?
Just curious as to what these might be or if others have seen similar animals before. These came from Africa as specials. Very clear Belly's so i am definetly convinced something is going on.
Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I like em.

Don't look like Sables, might be genetic, breed a YB into one, and breed a pair together, and maybe a Pastel into one...

Not a bad dinking around project for sure.

Was the Voodoo ball a Ivory with markings, they kind of look like a Pied at first glance. I have one female like that ,but her head is black. I look for the picture.

Shes out of a YB clutch, she is really cool looking in person.

They are usually called dark morphs.
We get them every year, as specials from Africa, some are genetic, some are not. They will get darker as adults.
Here is a pic of a sub adult female we have, that looks 100x better in person.

We sold a female dark morph het pied to a local client last year and she should go this year to a pied so we will hopefully see a dark morph pied... hopefully a low white.
We have also has dark morph co dom bandeds too that produce dark morph banded babies. Other than that, not sure what has been done with them, we sold a lot of d.m babies last year so we could see some combos next season from them.

Good luck with him.

Those are nice especially the belly on that male. I would breed them together and try to get a yb female to breed that male to. My fingers are crossed for you.

...but I like them. They look velvety. I've always liked dark morphs. Are they all from the same clutch? If they are, I couldn't imagine them not being something genetic. Good luck!!

Yeah those are cool. Definitely breed them together when the time comes. Couldn't hurt to breed the male to a Pastel or maybe a nice Black Pastel. Oh yeah a Yellowbelly might be interesting as well. JP
