I thought I have heard of oreganus.....but cannot confirm where I heard it.
Someone had albino panamints for sale in the classifieds this year, I believe.
I would love to see a pic of an albino sidewinder, if anyone has one.
When I was manager at Tom Crutchfields back in the day, we, in fact, had several albino sidewinders. They were awesome.
Randal
what happened to all of them...i've never seen them up for sale by any breeders...talking about the sidewinders.....hopefully someday i'll get the scutes and helleris...my buddy used to get the lists, but i never remember seeing them...did ya'll have them established....anyone know if anyone is still working with them....
I haven't heard anything about the sidewinders for years,I had talked to Crutchfield years ago and he said they went to someone in Texas(I think that is what he told me).I still think the albino helleri are the prettiest.Has anyone ever heard or seen an albino ruber.

The albino Sidewinders were born at the shop from a w.c. Mojave Desert Sidewinder. Only 2 were albinos and were a hot pink color. The late Joe Robsen Of Long Island, New York bought them but I have no idea what happened to them. Joe died of cancer over an extended period of time so its hard to say. I only ever had the two....thanks...TC
Tom, did you sell off the hets to any other breeders that may have kept and bred them?....how long ago were these babies born?...anyway to get hold of Joe's wife to see what happened to his collection?...thanks for any info
I have a picture from 2003 of a leucistic sidewinder that Puget Sound Reptiles had. I don't want to post it if they're still around to put it up, but I can if they aren't.
Joe bought all the hets and the mother but I have NO idea what happened to them...TC
I have heard of a few other albine crotes from California.I know for sure that there is a piebald ruber in someones collection. It is not the one from Rubios book either. It has produced hets.It ia a long story but the guy who produced hets will not sell them or is he interested in breeding them back to prove them out.kind of kills me.The guy is kind of s rich wierdo.
I also know of an albino Oreganus. There are hets from them.
I know there were are some leucistic sidewinders,If I am correct they were produced by a guy in Idaho.I know the guys that had the hets. Some were sold off as normals as they could never get pics of the parents to prove what they had to potential buyers.I do not think that they had pairs.only males or females but i do not know which anymore.
A friend just returned from a place that is a winder heaven. They found a winder that had three quarter sized spots on it that were snow white!!!Sorry to say that it was found dead.
There is a picture of a very young oreganus in "Snakes of the American West" by Shaw and Campbell.
Hey Dave,
How are the helleri doing? This is Joel with the tigers in Phelan.
Hi Joel: I knew that it was you. The baby helleri are doing just great. They are eating well and I am trying to not over feed them. They have shed at least three times so that rattle is growing. I will try for more next breeding season.
can you go ahead and post the pic of the luci sidewinder and the albino...i looked for puget sound reptiles and they must not be around anymore.....Tom do you still have pics of the albino sidewinder babies?....
Here it is. As mentioned, I liked it so I saved it, the save date was in 2003. That's really all I know about it. I tried to search out Puget Sound Reptiles on the online and didn't come up with anything either.

Here a pic of my Western massasauga
