Pastel Ball Not Eating

lilman Nov 18, 2008 12:33 PM

I purchased a hatchling male pastel ball python about a month ago. It has yet to eat but not loosing too much weight. I read online somewhere that pastels perfur asf or gerbals when getting started. The person I bought him from said he was eating f/t rats. Can anyone shed some light on this situation.

Are you keeping him warm enough? Are you trying rats that are too big. Balls, especially hatchlings sometimes like smaller items. Leave in an FT rat pink over night, if that doesn't work try a live one the next night. If that doesn't work try a small FT hoppy mouse, then a live one. See a pattern developing...

Last night i got a stubborn snake to eat by teasing it with a small live hoppy mouse until it struck- then i left it alone to finish the job

Good Luck
Brett
