Cage cleaning during breeding question

theboasphere Nov 18, 2008 07:19 PM

this is our first year of breeding and i wanna make as little mistakes as possible.

we have a pair together but they spilled the water and the entire boaphile is wet (paper bags and newspaper ontop) i would like to change the bedding and was wondering if that would hurt the courting process and breeding if we took them out to swap the bedding. they have been courting well so i don't want to make a wrong decision. thanks for the help!

I know some people don't clean at all during breeding. I used to do that too. It was kind of a nice way, for me anyhow, to be a little lazy about it. There I said it, I'm lazy! Now I clean all during breeding. I just try to leave the male and female alone as much as possible. Can't let them get too dirty. That's not good for them either and probably isn't really conducive to; getting them thinking that all is good in the world, and this would be a great place to produce a family.

I'll second that adding I use paper and will do half cage cleans in order to not disturb them. If the male is actually wrapped, I don't mess with them at all.
