Selling BP but Buyer has BP/IBD, issues?

luvmyhydra Nov 19, 2008 06:09 PM

After 2 months of constant work I still cannot get anywhere with my female so I had decided to sell her, maybe someone else could have better luck. Well immediately I got an email from someone, he said he was highly interested in her. His next email he tells me he currently has a spider ball with IBD and he is trying to figure out what to do with him, either giving him back to who he got him from or having him put down but said he could get back in contact with me Monday. He owns other BP's, should I avoid selling her to this guy? Wouldn't there be a good chance his other snakes could be carrying it?

It's possible that the spider just has a wobble and the guy thinks it's IBD. But I wouldn't place my snakes with someone that has sick animals - or (as the case may be) doesn't do their research on their animals before purchasing.

seems this forum and books in the world haven't reached everyone yet......

......spiders act like spiders

people who do not know this ,should actually not be able to afford them,,sadly....even a 10 year old that cuts grass really really cheaply can afford them....LOL....

and if the ball is a pain that is being sold???.......

What I don't understand is the person that knows or suspects they have IBD issues, yet is looking to adopt or purchase another. I'm fairly sure IBD is contagious, so why buy another and possibly put it in harms way? And does he know enough about spiders to consider his issue might just be a very bad wobble.

if they read...they'd know both those things

.....I'd run......either way, unless it's cash in hand....

I have to agree with Tosha. If they do have a snake with IBD, which I doubt, then you do not want to put another animal in harms way. I also agree that their Spider may just have a case of the corkscrews. But why chance it???? JP

If he thinks it has IBD he should take it to a vet and get it tested...first priority.

From what I understand the only reliable IBD testing can only be done after the snake is dead. As well vets have been known to put down wobbling spiders thinking they have IBD -- if it is sick it will be dead in a couple of weeks - no testing needed.
