Temperatures for baby NICS

rom1077 Nov 19, 2008 11:12 PM

I have baby nics that are between 7months to a year 1/2. I have my helix set to 88 in the day and 82 night drop. I have a 32 quart animal plastic rack. Are these healthy temperatures for my children?

Your temps sound alright. If you've had them for a while, you should be able to tell by the way they "act".

If it seems that the majority of them are spending most of their time (day and night) on the hot side, then I would raise the temps slightly. If the majority spend most of their time on the cooler side or in their water dish, then I would lower the temps. If they are on the heat during the day but are all over their enclosures at night, you temps are probably good for them.

Other indications of improper temps would be attitude changes, loss of appetite, or illness.

I keep most of my nics at 87-88 on the hot side, and 82 on the cool in the summer (72 on the cool side in winter).

Amie
