hide spot ?

SnakeCharmer77 Nov 20, 2008 02:32 PM

so i was in the pet store picking up a few items for my new guy i hope to pick up tomorrow (young adult male)
and it dawned on me that i didnt know how big of a hide box he would need, so i didnt get him one...
my little ones have two different ones- those coconut shells and zenith has a bark wedge you can get from the pet stores...
ive tried those plastic igloos that they sell for hamsters but he kind of ignored it for the most part- more liked it lay on top of it ahahahah..
i might use it for the girl, or maybe the new kid, if its big enough...

so i was wondering what everyone else uses for hide spots- esp for your biggest kid...
Thanks

I use an upside down tuber ware container. Cut a door way in it, and melt any sharp cuts with a quick flame. Heck of a lot cheaper and easier to find the right sizes.

Alot of people do something like the person above mentioned. I have been using the half logs that you can find from pet stores. I have had good luck with those.
Good luck getting him settled in!

I like the hides sold by Reptile Basics Inc. And the come in 4 sizes. They aren't the most natural looking hides, but they are very easy to clean and my snakes seem to really love them. I had tried those hampster things and they'd just sit on top I think the darker the hide spot the more attracted to it they are.
Cheers

I use an upside down clay saucer that is propped up by a "pot foot" that is glued to the saucer with aquarium sealer. It is dark and secure, and can be soaked to increase humidity in the hide. They come in multiple sizes to accommodate any size ball python.
