Feeding Baby Cyclura

ramonesfan Nov 20, 2008 07:25 PM

I just purchased a new cuban rock iguana and I have had it about a week now. Though I have kept Lewesi hybrids and rhinos before I never raised one from this young. This little hatchling shows little interest in greens and veggies (picking at them but not really filling up on them), a little more interest in fruit but seems to only go for crickets with any real enthusiasm. Is there a problem feeding them to it twice a week or so untill it has put on mre weight? He/she seems emaciated after not eating much a day or so...so I feel really bad just trying to wait out the food preferences. Any advice?

only a week? its scared as hell. see the below posts. Personally I would not feed crickets at all. veggie diet, back off for awhile, dont handle , let it settle in and it will eat. Make sure your temps are right

I fed my baby cayman wax worms because they have less cartelage or hard matter, and that was the only thing he would eat, anyway their better than crickets, and he would also eat a little spinich and collered greens, he also loved that pet store, cereal looking small iguana food that comes in a plastic jar. good luck.
