hey everyone, picked up breeding pair of cresties with the cage that they were in. it was set up pretty basic with the egg crates etc.when i got home i changed it to a more natural look.is this going to affect the breeding cycle? the female has had six clutches so far and this is her first season.what do you think?

George,
Well breeding season is pretty much over and after 6 clutches I would let her rest at least until Jan so she can replenish herself.

George,
Yeah removing the male would be best this way all competition is moved and she can feed as much as she likes without being bothered. She will bulk up more quickly as well the male if he needs it. As far as the moving affecting her, it’s hard to say, every animal is different. I can tell you I keep my pairs separate for most of the year and only pair them up in the others cage for a few months during Jan-March. After separating them again the females never seem too much effected as they continue to lay (they retain sperm just like leos), however their cage setups are very similar. Best of Luck.
-Mike
