Blue Beauty Q's

treesnake888 Nov 22, 2008 01:37 AM

Hi. I'm looking into this species...however, I don't have any previous experience with Old World Ratsnakes. I guess I'm just looking for some reference material to aid my research BEFORE I actually purchase an animal.

If anyone can recommend a website or even a book... I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks a million!

As far as books go for Beauty snake info I would say "A Monograph of the Colubrid Snakes of the Genus Elaphe" by Schulz is a really good book. The only down side is that it's $150 but in my opinion it's well worth it if you really like rat snakes.
The biggest difference in care requirements for blue beauty snakes, as with most other asian rat snakes that's different from north american rat snakes is they should be kept in a little cooler and a little more humid environment than north american rat snakes.

Hey, thanks Randy! Fantastic picture, too. I've been trying to read up on them for a while now and I thought it couldn't hurt to ask for reference materials on this forum.

I was poking around on a website last night and there was some talk of a "Hypo" line and an "Anery" line. Is that just wishful thinking or has someone actually produced them? Does anyone know?
