Help! Egg binding?

jhnscrg Nov 23, 2008 10:39 AM

Hey all,

I think my female H. nassicus is eggbound. She didn't lay her annual clutch of eggs ( slugs, I don't have a mate for her) this year. Last year, she only laid one. Now she has a large bulge & trouble fully digesting any but small feeder mice.
She is an older girl now, but my well-loved pet. Can I help her outside a herp vet?

Sincerely,
Matthew

The best option would probably to be see a good vet.

I personally have not had any of my herps 'eggbind'

But by doing a google search there is a few sites that have some good information on the problem.

Here is one of the links:

Good luck.

Aye, there's the rub. I don't know of any herp qualified vets within less than an hours drive from my home. I'm sure there are some in Dallas or Ft. Worth, somewhere. Honestly, I know that is my best bet. Even if this is not egg binding ( as she has aged, this egg laying has fallen off.) but a tumor. Which is what I am REALLY fearing. I think I could massage eggs out.
Do you know any good vets in this part of the US??

Appreciate the help!

Sincerely,
Matthew
