Lesser vs. Butter

jokerfish Nov 23, 2008 08:21 PM

So...is there really a difference between these 2 snakes? I have never had the 2 side by side to compare them, I have only seen pics. I ma looking to buy one in the next few months, I need a male pied first, and I would like opinions on this matter.

Both morphs run a wide gamut as far as coloration goes. Often the colors of the two are very similar. I've seen Lessers that look like Butters and visa versa. If you are lucky enough to find a really nice example of either morph it becomes pretty apparent that they are different.

Just like Pastels - some are smoking even as 5 year old adults and others are barely distinguishable from a Wild Type at only 1 year. Look for the ones that will still be hot in 3-4 years and compare them (Lessers and Butters).

Personally, I prefer Butters over Lessers.
