Breeding Question

khamilton Nov 23, 2008 09:21 PM

This is my second attempt at getting my male pastel to pair up with my nice reduced pattern girl. She shows interest, tail wagging...etc. The male hides up on the lip of the vision cage above the door. This is my first season to breed..my other pair is doing fine. Any help would be appreciated.

Ps..she just shed too and I left the shed in her cage and placed him in there yesterday.

you may want to leave them for 5 days or so . If you have another male put the males together briefly and watch them closely. Two males will sometimes battle ahich is usally just a pushing match but watch for aggression to be safe. Sometimes another male will cause the competition factor. then put the male of choice with the female and leave for 5 days. Alot of breeding occurs at night and you may not see it . Sometimes the pair will be locked for days. Good luck to you !

The female won't breed unless it is a viable time for her, with properly developed follicles. Our season starts now, and breeding cops continue through July or so, with females becoming viable anytime during that period.

You can't force it, you just have to catch the right window. Might be next week, might be next summer.

hey robyn, my spider is alittle over 400 grams with good weight, but he will not breed for me yet, he has a medium signs of head wobbling, like spiders do. does this effect breeding from one spider to another.most of all my other little male are breeding now like my 400 gram pinstripe.i know the snakes breed different times of the year, but its a little strange. any advise thanks mark
