Off Topic: A question for the electricians out there.

fhayden1 Sep 08, 2003 12:58 PM

Hi. I recently decided to replace the old ceiling fan I had. The wires coming out of the ceiling are yellow, white and red. The wires in the fan motor are black, white, blue ,and green.

Any suggestion on what wires to connect together. I called the 1-800 tech number that came with the fan 3 times but they never responded.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Frank

On the new one the green is ground wire of course, black(cold) and white(hot) are for power blue is for the light switch.

Old wiring red(hot) and white(cold), and yellow is to the switch.

I am not a licensed electrician but I have replaced alot of cieling fans. If someone else has better advice or sees something wrong please feel free to add.

Thanks
Jody
