missing spikes

gyke Sep 08, 2003 01:19 PM

Ever since my girl had eggs last month she hasn't been the same. She rarely eats and is very skinny and now it starting to turn a brownish color. Yesterday when I took her out I noticed a few of her spikes are missing. She still drinks pleny of water though, and goes swimming all the time. I am trying everything I can think of to get her to eat but nothing works. Could the missing spikes be from a lack of food? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

No, the missing spikes are not from not eating. Is she in with a male? The males often bite off the spikes on the back of the females neck during mating. Or, she could have rubbed against something that removed them. Get her to a vet, I have lost two females from egg laying related problems.
